State and Federal Legislation for Alyssa's Law

September 20, 2021 - Cary NC -  In a code red, every second counts. Alyssa's Law was passed in New Jersey in 2019 and requires public K-12 schools to be equipped with a panic button linked to local law enforcement. In addition, as the 2021-2022 school year starts, schools in Florida must also comply with Alyssa's law by having an alert system in place in case of a life-threatening emergency.    The Law, named after 14-year-old Alyssa Alhadeff, who lost her life in the Stoneman Douglas School shooting is rapidly gaining legal momentum.  The Law requires all public elementary and secondary schools to install either silent panic alarms or alternative emergency mechanisms approved by The Department of Education.

Several other states have introduced similar legislation, including Arizona, Nebraska, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas. The ALYSSA Act is bipartisan federal legislation to require silent panic alarms in all schools to immediately alert law enforcement of an active shooter situation. The bill will also increase investment in more well-trained School Resource Officers, to help protect students and faculty.  To find out more at the state level and to sign the national petition, go to ganzsecurity.com/D2PD.

Ganz D2PDTM powered by Go2Blu® is an Emergency Communications Technology for Active Shooter/Armed Intruder incidents. It was developed through a strategic business alliance between Ganz Security and Go2Blu by CauZway.  Utilizing the Internet of Things (IoT), D2PD alerts vital staff in a School/Facility and Police 911 Dispatcher, Mobile Patrol Vehicles, and connected desktops in 1/4 of one second.

Using Duress Buttons and Software as a Service (SaaS) Desktop applications, D2PD makes up to 10 Teachers, Administrators, and employees virtual Safety and Security Officers. D2PD integrates with Building Public Address (PA), Access Control (automatically initiates lock-down or lockout), Video Management Systems, Digital Signage, IPTV, and Active Shooter Prisms. Additionally, it triggers a Police Response while simultaneously establishing 2-way communication to assist in the tactical response.

"In an Active Shooter or Medical Emergency Event, the ability to expedite response by Law Enforcement is the single most significant factor in the preservation of life. Go2Blu provides notification to local law enforcement in less than 1 second from alarm activation, bypassing dispatch and allowing for an immediate response to any life-threatening incident," said Richard Spellman, the Inventor/Founder of Go2Blu.

Spellman goes on to say, "Go2Blu is the next generation, IoT solution that sets the standard for Emergency Alerting and Communication Systems. It represents the fastest system on the market at the most competitive price."
